No it’s not a type of aircraft, a glider is also a type of seat with a fixed base with a rocking mechanism which is integral to the construction of the chair. The mechanism for the chair rocking movement is typically fairly heavy so these are chairs that you’ll leave in the same place for long periods of time. These are ideal relaxing spots when placed next to an entertainment center or stereo, where you can gently rock while listening to jazz, the classics or whatever takes your fancy.
